Autumn Trends To Fall For

When planning for the season ahead, think about what your most worn item should be.

Autumn dressing is all about easy layering, particularly while we are still juggling varying temperatures and weather reports in any given day so it goes without saying your Autumn MUST HAVE should be a good jacket.

Everyone needs a couple of great jacket options to work with, whether it be casual, smart or working it in the office, the jacket choice makes the outfit and we have 3 styles that will fit nicely into your Autumn wardrobe.

The Bomber Jacket:
A bit of an 80’s throwback and great for both sexes, the Bomber is back and available at all price points in most retailers. The Bomber suits most body types as they are a minimalist, collarless style and the perfect addition to your smart casual look.
As florals and embroidery are leading trends this season, have yourself a bit of fun and add a floral bomber to your everyday outfit for a pretty pop.

The Oversized Denim Jacket:
Dust off your Dad's old school Levis jacket - oversized denim in a mix of washes is so hot right now but you want to wear it like it has been thoughtfully draped over your cold shoulders by your gentleman friend.
Draped over a knit dress and sneakers, this is a fresh way to add layering and some more texture to your casually cool outfit.

The Classic Leather:
A staple and timeless go to, everyone needs a leather look jacket in their wardrobe.
Look for a good fit and shape into the waist and a flattering length for your body shape so this wee number goes the distance.
The ideal piece to take you from day to date, your leather jacket will see you right.

Don’t just stop at black - consider other great neutrals for your capsule wardrobe. Camel is a great base to be worn with warmer toned pieces, while the colour of the season, blush pink is a softer option which can be easily teamed with berries, greys and inks.

The cooler months are all about the addition of sleeves and this so happens to be where we are having some fun with two key trends.
There is something about the comfort and warmth of a knit top with the cheekily exposed cold shoulder while the romantic retro bell sleeve is back wether it be a blouse or a dress, the bell sleeve adds a bit of flirty fun to the wardrobe and is particularly flattering, adding movement and interest to the sleeves.

In keeping with the more romantic vibe of this season, no colour shouts romance more than blush pink. Blush can be worn with other shades from the same colour palette allowing you to wear this colour trend head to toe successfully, or team your blush piece with ink, burgundy or the colours of spice for a warm Autumn feel and complete your look with ever popular rose gold accessories.

If you prefer bolder colours and a stronger colour palette, deep berries are a welcome rich addition to our Autumn wardrobe and can be playfully worn with the come back colours khaki and mustard.

Stylist Tip: Have fun trying new colours but keep the best colours for your complexion closest to your face and teamed with a great base colour that works for your capsule wardrobe.

An easy way to add interest to your wardrobe is through texture and this season our textures and fabric are all about warmth and opulence.
Velvet is the key fabric pick of the season and features heavily across the board wether it be in footwear, key wardrobe pieces and accessories. There can be a lot of contrast in the fabric and can draw a bit of attention so consider how you are wearing your velvet piece.
If velvet footwear or clothing is a little too much for you, it can be played subtly with accessories such as velvet choker or soft crushed velvet detailing on your garment.

Suede always feels a little more luxurious to me but thankfully we can achieve the look without the price tag as faux suede takes its place as a key fabric choice for Autumn.
The faux suede skirt is my personal choice as it can be worn casually with sneakers, tee and denim jacket or dressed up with heels and tucked in blouse or you may prefer a suede jacket, with the suede look drape jacket being a popular choice.

Lace is ever popular and the perfect go to for the inner romantic wether in a fine floral lace or in a heavier broderie anglaise, this is a chic yet effortless way to add interesting texture to your smart look.
