Auckland Transport Changes

Newly created bus spaces opposite The Rockshop and New World will be used by Auckland Transport buses, following the increase in bus services under the New Network programme. Buses will use the bus parking during driver rest breaks, and while waiting to commence a bus service.

Frequency of Bus Services at Botany Town Centre

Services between Botany and Pakuranga, Panmure and the City Centre will increase from every 25 minutes to every 10 minutes, 7 days a week, 7am to 7pm.
Services between Botany and Howick and Manukau will increase from every 30 minutes to every 15 minutes, 7 days a week, 7am to 7pm.
These frequent bus services are more than any other location in Auckland except for the City Centre and Newmarket.
This highlights Botany’s importance as the key town centre in East Auckland which will be easily accessible by public transport.
Increases in service frequencies improves average travel times and convenience, which will encourage more bus patronage.

Improvements in direct routes to Botany

There will be more direct routes from Botany to local destinations such as Highland Park, Bucklands Beach, Otahuhu, Ormiston Town Centre, Flat Bush and Mission Heights.
The current bus network does not have any direct connections with Ormiston Town Centre and the wider Flat Bush area which have had significant growth inpopulation in the past five years.
The New Network introduces two new routes which will connect Botany with Ormiston and Flat Bush from 6am to midnight, 7 days a week.

Evening Bus Services

Most of the current bus services at Botany cease by 8pm. In the New Network, key bus routes such as City Centre, Newmarket, Panmure, Howick and Manukau will run up until midnight.

 AT’s new fare system

AT’s new fare system introduced in 2016 means trips between Botany and local destinations within  Manukau North Zone cost $1.85 one way.Trips from outside the Zone will cost between $3.15 and $4.85 one way.

New Network Bus Operators for Botany

Bus Services in the New Network at Botany will be operated by Howick & Eastern Buses Limited and GoBus Limited, both of whom have a fleet of brand new or recently purchased buses, all of which will be in distinctive AT Metro livery. Double Decker buses will continue to operate the frequent service to the City Centre.

The Eastern Busway Project (formerly known as the Auckland Manuaku Eastern Transport Initiative (AMETI)) is planned to be built between Botany Town Centre and Panmure Station by 2026. Passengers will be able to travel by bus and train to the city centre in less than 40 minutes, even during peak travel times. Phase 1 of the project (Panmure Station to Pakuranga Town Centre) is programmed for delivery by 2021.
