What better way to well and truly launch into Spring with dresses this ‘Frocktober.’
There are so many styles out there - sometimes it can be overwhelming knowing where to start, especially if you aren’t typically a ‘dress’ girl.
Dresses take the ‘what goes with what’ out of dressing as it’s almost a complete outfit in itself - just add a denim jacket and ankle boot for a smart casual look or a blazer and heel for an elevated look and don’t forget to accessorise - this is the ‘sprinkles’ on top when it comes to completing your outfit. Read on for the different dress types that will suit you - and scroll to the bottom for examples from some of our retailers at Botany Town Centre.
The X Shape
Dresses come so easily to you with your feminine shape. Show off your waist and curves with wrap styles, cinching, belts and ties and avoid anything oversized and boxy as you will lose your shape.
The H Shape
Drop waist, tiered and vertical ruched dresses are ideal as they give you the illusion of a longer waist. Avoid dresses with contrasting at the waist or cinching as this will only draw attention to your short waist rather than elongate your body.
The A Shape
Like the Hourglass, dresses come very easily to you, in fact more so than pants as you have a smaller waist in comparison to a fuller hip.
Wraps and A Line Dresses work well, particularly in a denser fabric that skirts over a fuller hip.
Draw attention to your waist and shoulders as this will deter from a fuller bottom half.
The V Shape
Shirt dresses, bias cuts and detailed skirts work well as they draw attention to your hip and away from your stronger shoulder. Think about drawing attention down your body rather than around your shoulders.
The O Shape
Dresses with a knot or empire line under the bust and styles that drape past the body work well over a fuller figure as does ‘column’ dressing - a darker dress with a fun and feminine kimono over the top.
